Mat Rempit- Give our men in blue the authority,

Of late more and more highlights of the misadventures of the Mat Rempits have popped up on our TV and Newspapers, even in the internet, these "street warriors" seem to be endorsed on what they are doing.

Stopping these people is hard. The motorbikes that they ride gives the riders an efficient tool of trade. These bikes can maneuver around other road vehicles just as well as a person can by walking, thus getting away from roadblocks is only too easy to do.

Yes, the police catches some unliscensed motobikers in their "operasi" but the truth is the really hardcore Mat Rempits always get away by making a u-turn and scooting away via going against traffic. Always they succeed. Those who are caught are small "ikan bilis". Our men in blue can't be blamed, they sometimes try to chase these fleeing menaces at a risk to their own lives but on foot, they stand little chances to catch these bikes.

Mat Rempits Standard method of Escape
1. Turn around 180 degrees and twist trottle full
2. Climb up road curbs and road shoulders (off course in the opposite or perpendicular direction)
3. Speed through the road block itself (though this method is only 50% successful)

Our men in blue can't do much physically to stop these menaces, least the be charged with Police brutality. If they try to jump on these menaces, they can suffer injuries and even death. Our Police men/women need help to do their job of stopping these Mat Rempits.

Maybe it is time our Politicians stop trying to "cure" these Mat Rempits via talks and pampering and approve laws that allow "controlled force" to be used against these people. Allow the use of "street spikes" along potential exit paths of these bikes. Allow also our police to use "electronic suppressors" like the ones the US Police use (unlike stunt guns, which immobilize people via electric shocks, electronic suppressors knock out the bikes electronic & electrical systems, forcing the engine to fail and stop)

Implement rules of increased punishment on these people, the more offenses you commit the longer the duration of confinement (jail) you will get.

It is time this made in Malaysia menace is stopped
